Sunday School Meeting

OLD BUSINESS
· The Christmas Program was a great success. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped and participated!!
ONGOING BUSINESS
· Sunday School is resuming regular schedule and curriculum, with occasional whole group lessons/crafts
o Will sing on January 23rd – “Jesus in the Morning”
o Shirley will be gone for the month of February—we will miss her!
NEW BUSINESS
· Easter is April 24, 2011
o Egg hunt and whole group activities
· VBS: July (date(s) to be determined)
o Theme/Verse: The Big Apple Adventure; so faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message of Christ. Romans 10: 17
o Five-day Program
o Similar rotation as last year: crafts, lesson, snack/games (may add music instead of only at closing and openings)
o Groups: Preschool-K, 1-4, youth
· Youth Group Update?
o Youth Group Leaders: Vicki Shoup, Becky Aman, Bev Gregory, and Carrie Blum
o Teen Worship has begun—Sundays from 9:45-10 a.m. in our Sanctuary, with a devotion to follow
o Follow-up on the trip to Brighton
o TEC News: TEC group visiting in February

Rally Day was a great success. Thank you to all who helped!!
NEW BUSINESS
Harvest Day – October 31st
·9 a.m. Sunday School
·10:15 a.m. Worship Service
·11:30 a.m. Potluck (Thrivent provides turkey and fixings, as well as table service). Please bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert to share.
·Hayride
·Trunk-or-Treat (sign-up sheet available)
·Games (apple and string; pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern; pumpkin decorating and judging; costume judging)
Christmas Program is on!
·Program is December 18th @ 6 p.m.
·Rehearsals begin November 21st
Operation Christmas Child
·Sunday School will assemble boxes on November 7th during Sunday School class @ 9 a.m.
Our next meeting will be Sunday, November 7th @ 8:30 a.m.

NEW BUSINESS
We currently have 13 registered for VBS
oThree-day program—Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
oAny ideas for condensing five-day lessons into three days?
oDates will be July 13th through July 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
oTheme: Saddle Ridge Ranch – James 1:5
oPurpose: (To answer: Who am I? Does God care about me? What is God’s plan for me? How can I be like Jesus? What do I do now?)
oSupplies—most supplies have been purchased. Holly will be purchasing the following and distributing them accordingly:
-Teacher’s Guide for each age group (give to Barb and Pastor for lessons)
-Worship Rally Guide (for Holly)
-Worship Rally DVD (for Holly)
-(Holly will also need to return some items that will not be needed)
oA donation box will be placed in the Fellowship Hall with a list of needs. (Needs have been in the weekly bulletin.)
oDecorating
-Holly has ordered some decorations, and Cindi has several items to help us with the western décor
-Iron-on transfers have been purchased to be placed on everyone’s plain T-shirts which, on the first night, everyone will be asked to bring
-Our bulletin board in the hallway is complete
-We will look into a slide show for after the program
oGetting the word out!
-Our display is in the Fellowship Hall, with registration information and forms
-Postcards will be sent out at the end of June

-Escorts for children: PreK-K – Cindi Young; 1st – 4th – Amber Aman & Sandy Ahleman; 5th grade & up – Jim and Amy Nevel
-Music – Jacob Krejci/guitar & Sandy Gilliland/vocal (will also have CD and DVD to assist)
-Snacks – in need of volunteers (snacks will include trail mix, s’mores, etc. Will ask for cookies and brownies for the closing)
oROTATION SCHEDULE
-6:30-6:50 – Opening Rally/Music
-6;50-7:15 – Rotation I
-7:15-7:40 – Rotation II
-7:40-8:05 – Rotation III
-8:05-8:30 – Closing Rally/Music
oClosing program on Thursday @ 8 p.m. with refreshments to follow: songs, skit, share crafts
OTHER BUSINESS
§Rally Day will be September 12th – hot dogs will be served, but please bring a dish to pass
Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 6th @ 6:30 p.m. (all involved with VBS are asked to attend)
